In your web site, we see a very impressive and emotional atmosphere which we can say the black and white style helped you to create. How do you define the soul of black and white photography?

I'm not a classic black & white photographer. I use black & white when I want to give a certain mood for a picture. It depend of my theme or my mood weather I work in black & white or in colour.

Can you tell us about your workspace and equipment?

The workspace depends on the projects. But I prefer working with big installations and settings.

When thinking that the digital imaging technology makes it possible to take thousands of photographs without paying for negatives, it seems like a revolution in visual arts. But there are two main problems. This development caused a real dirtiness and makes all people photographers. And the second one is that the digital photography is not able to reach the quality of film yet. How do you evaluate the future of photography?

I'm working with digital equipment since more than 2 years now, and purely technical, I think that the quality from digital photography is already better than film... But you do have another feeling, it's like working with a totally new film with another feel. Because of the digital revolution we have more freedom and our creativity has less restrictions.

Some art critics, even some important photographers defend the idea that photography is not art. What is your idea on this issue?

In some matter I agree, but then you have the discussion again what's art... Is making a painting art? When we work for commercial clients, in advertising, we cannot say this is art off course. But my free work is made in the same way as when I would paint something, or make another artwork. Photopgraphy is the technique to express my ideas, and I think that it's art then.

Oscar Wilde says "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months." What do you think about this idea? Do you think fashion is necessary or it's only an inevitability?

I agree that most of the fashion photography is too quickly dated and superficial. I don't want to follow tendencies in photography or fashion. I prefer working with my own imagination, and I want to adapt my technique, colors, feel on the subject I photograph. I always try to add a story or an idea in my pictures, not just a model in fashionable clothes. Also some fashion is more artistic than other.

Imagine there are no limits or obstacles before you. With which model and in which environment do you mostly want to work?

I would like to work with very good actors to make a personal series. and I would do this all over the world. I can't explain the idea because it's not realised yet.

Do you think fame is important?

Not at all! Human respect is more important.

Which books, photographers and artists have most influenced your own artistic efforts?

It depends, but I really like Guy Bourdin's work.

Are you interested in movies? Which directors do you find closer to yourself in terms of visual comprehension?

Wim Wenders is one of my favorites.

Theme of our current issue is "Road". What does this word mean to you? As a photographer, do you like travelling?

Of course I like travelling, but I don't want to be always on the road!

"Because of the digital revolution (in photography), we have more freedom and our creativity has less restrictions."
