You were born in Warsaw and instead of the solid and aggressive design style of Poland, you prefer creating softer and more innovative works. How do you evaluate the future of graphic arts?
My journey with digital art and design has started on deviantart forums, i've never looked much into polish design scene to be honest. i always wanted to be somehow original ( heh everyone wants !), but the things that pushed me forward were mostly portfolios of abroad artists. Future of graphic arts is slightly connected with design in my eyes. Both are about originality, but it's getting harder and harder to be original from day to day, i'm very curious what the future will bring, but also i can't predict anything. I'm rather person who's going with the flow, rather than sitting and thinking what it will be in a couple of days/ years and so on.
What can you say for your country? Have you ever thought of living in another place?
Polish girls are beautiful. Food is great so do people, but to be honest i thought of moving many times, but after graduating on university. I think that abroad i could learn a lot more cause the design is on much highier level than in Poland, there are a lot more great companies who i would like to work with as well. Opportunities are extremely higher. What's more, I see designer job as a chance to meet many fascinating people but also see many different places and get to know other cultures, which i'm very excited about.
We know that Poland was well known for the poster designs especially in the period between 1950 and 1970. What can you say about that time? Which artists in the art history inspired you most?
Of course i can't remember those times hehe, but as for the artists it was for sure Picasso and Polish Matejko. For their style and using in on the different matter. Pure design that could be used for many things. Great people, great knowledge, great inspiration.
What kind of computer and software do you use? What does your workspace look like?
I'm working on a simple PC, it's okay for my needs, tho i'm thinking of buying a mac in some time. what about my workspace? hehe i always have many things in front of me, like books, some paper sheets, and other stuff that should be thrown away, it's like controlled mess.
You studied Information Technology and then you began to work on digital media. Now you are a very talented and lucky graphic designer. Lucky, because you are 20 years old and you worked for great clients including Nike. Have you ever thought about your greatest aim in your life? What is it?
My aim is to work in BigSpaceship together with Jens Karlsson and James Widegreen, someday. I don't know if it's possible, it's rather like a dream, but who knows what life will bring. i'm young everything can happen.
You were featured in some other magazines before Bak. Some of them are real magazines and the others are e-zines. What do you think about the magazines presented on the internet? Do you think the paper will loose its value against digital media in the future?
I think papers are for wider public. it's something material, you can touch this, hold it, throw it away. It's for common people that not necessarily are familiar with internet, for example older people. But they might like your work if the see it on newspaper on magazine. I think e-mags are mostly for people younger and more familiar with internet, for the people from the age of the internet. I think the paper will loose it's value in the 2nd generation of ' internet age'.
What do you think of music? Does the music that you listen to find reflection in your frames? Do you need music while you are working?
Music is very important in my life. I hardly have to work in silence. It's a great source for relaxing also as an inspiration. I do like listening to the lyrics of the songs and find quotes that i might paste into my life. Some of them are so real and they fit so well.
If you have a chance to remove a part in the world history, which period would you choose?
For sure world war. Too much sensless cruelty. Loads of pain and suffer. It didn't have to be like that i think. There is always a better way than violence. It must be...
Theme of our current issue is "Road". What does this word mean to you?
Theme 'road' always reminds me old times, few years back when i was in high school, it was one of the matura exam themes, hehe. after graduating i felt like one of the travellers passing his own way. I had to move to the capital of Poland which is Warsaw to study at Highier Institue of Information Technology.
Where I'm now. Lots of bad memories and feelings according i had because of this, but it also pushed me to work harder. So under the word 'road' i see quite long time of my private life and designer as well.
