Meghan

Apparently my parents got the name from the Thornbirds. I actually haven't seen the movie, so I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

Life

So much of life is work. I could never be in a job that I didn't love, I can't fathom how someone could do that, but it seems like most people hate their job. I love what I do and when I don't love it anymore, I need to start looking for a new career.

New York

Such a fantastic city. I love living here. There's never lack of things to do, people to photograph, places to see. It has been a huge step up from growing up in upstate New York, which might as well be an entirely different country.

Photography

I'm very fortunate to have figured out that this is what I wanted to do with my life. I initially started with several other majors in college and thought that there was no way I could make a career out of taking pictures. finally out of lack of any other ideas I decided to go for it anyway. boy was I wrong!

Light

Couldn't make photography without it. Although, I love working with the dark more, just highlighting bits and pieces of a scene, leaving something to the imagination.

Horizon

Something new, something different...

European Cinema

Well I can't say this is a subject I know too much about, I've only seen a few European movies, all of which I loved. Amelie was actually really inspirational as far as my work goes. I loved the light, the colors, the framing. watching it I felt like every second would be a gorgeous still photograph. Songs from the Second Floor was another one that I loved.

Music

I love music. Another huge inspiration to my work. I've been listening to a lot of Elliott Smith. If my photography could be translated into music I'd want it to sound like his. Subtle, beautiful, but dark.

Aim

All I can think of is AOL Instant Message (AIM), which I suppose is a sign of my age :) It's incredible how the internet is replacing human contact. I'm guilty of it too, sometimes it's easier to send a quick email, but I think the next generation of kids younger than me is getting more and more into it.. we'll see how that pans out.

Old

I'm really fascinated with old objects. It's amazing to think of the number of hands that item went through, and that someone most likely crafted it by hand. Age is a really beautiful thing.

Meghan

Hayat

New York

Harika bir şehir. Burada yaşamayı çok seviyorum. Yapacak şey hiçbir zaman azalmıyor ya da fotoğraflanacak insanlar ve görülecek yerler. Yukarı New York'ta büyümüş olmaktan çok farklı bir olay, bambaşka bir ülke bile olabilirlermiş.

Fotoğraf

Hayatımda yapmak istediğim şeyin bu olduğunu anladığım için çok şanslıyım. Üniversitedeyken başka bölümlerle ilgilendim ve fotoğraf çekerek kesinlikle bir kariyer yapamayacağıma inandım..Sonunda başka fikrim kalmadığı için bunu yapmaya karar verdim..Tanrım, ne kadar yanılmışım!

Işık

Onsuz fotoğraf olmaz. Yine de karanlıkla çalışmayı daha fazla severim, bir sahnenin sadece parçalarını öne çıkarmak ve hayal gücüne de bir şeyler bırakmak.

Ufuk

Yeni bir şey, değişik bir şey...

Avrupa Sineması

Bu konuda çok şey bildiğimi söyleyemem, sadece birkaç Avrupa filmi gördüm, ve hepsini sevdim. Amelie işim için çok ilham verici olmuştu. Işığı, renkleri, yapıyı çok sevdim. İzlerken her anın mükemmel bir fotoğraf karesi olabileceğini hissettim. İkinci Kattan Şarkılar sevdiğim bir başka filmdi.

Müzik

Müziği seviyorum. İşim açısından bir başka büyük ilham. Çok fazla Elliot Smith dinliyorum. Eğer fotoğraflarım müziğe dönüşebilseydi onun müziği gibi duyulmasını isterdim. Zarif, güzel ama karanlık.

Hedef

Aklıma gelen tek şey AOL Instant Message (AIM), sanırım bu yaşımın bir göstergesi:) İnsanlar arası bağlantının yerini internet'in alıyor olması inanılmaz. Bu konuda ben de suçluyum, bazen çabuk bir e-mail yollamak kolay oluyor, ama sanırım benden sonraki jenerasyondaki gençler buna daha da çok bağlanıyor. Nasıl sonuçlanacağını göreceğiz.

Eski

Eski eşyalara bayılırım. O eşyayı tutan onca eli düşünmek inanılmaz bir şey ve birinin onu elleriyle yaptığını düşünmek. Yaş gerçekten çok güzel bir şey.
